Sandile Mthethwa, of St Faith’s in Durban, is the winner of our Youth Month Story Competition. He wins 10 AYSA badges and 10 caps to share with his youth.
Here’s his winning story :
“One of our biggest events for the month of June was the service we had planned for youth day. We joined with our sister parishes in the Durban ridge region as well as the Durban region. We had chosen to have our youth day celebration on the 15th as it afforded us more freedom as to how we could make it as memorable as possible.
It was indeed a unique and special event as we celebrated a Eucharist on one of our beautiful beaches. The day was sunny and the weather balmy as bay of plenty beach became our altar. Our celebrant was Revd Andy Kruger with Revd Lovington Nyoni leading. We were also honoured to have our bishop making an appearance to give us some history on Youth Day. +Rubin was one of the people who were directly involved in the struggle along with other struggle heroes, and could give us a firsthand account of how monumental June 16, 1976 was.
After the service it was time to fellowship and play in the sand. Everybody got a good workout playing beach soccer, volleyball, long jump, and various other activities.
Our other big event for the month of June was a revival we had on the 22nd of June. It was a great success with Revd Pinky Nyoni ministering to us, and her husband Revd Lovington Nyoni praying for us. It was a truly special time with the Lord as we searched for Him with open hearts and re-committed ourselves to His work. The song of the church (Te Deum), which we sang as we were doing closing prayers brought into sharp focus how great our sovereign God is.
Through God’s grace, we hope to have another faithful and productive month serving Him through the power of Holy Spirit.”
Congratulations, Sandile and youth members of St Faith’s.
