Our Provincial Youth Chaplain, Fr Tom Tshiponyane, has been very busy lately. Having recently returned from Provincial Synod in Johannesburg, he took the road again, this time to Lesotho to attend and participate in two historical events.
The first was on Friday 18th October when he attended the blessing of the Bishop of Lesotho’s new home in Maseru. Archbishop Thabo Makgoba performed the ceremony with Bishops Dino, Swartz and Diseko in attendance. Bishop Taaso’s old home was converted into an office.

Next, it was on to the blessing and official opening of the new guest house and outpatient block of St James Mission Hospital in Mantsonyane just outside of Maseru. St James Hospital is the only Anglican Hospital in ACSA and recently celebrated it’s 50th Anniversary.
His Majesty King Letsie III, the Prime Minister, Tom Thabane and the entire Lesotho Cabinet was also in attendance. The youth of Lesotho offered songs of thanksgiving.
The Archbishop pledged R50000.00 towards the building of the nurses training college at St James Hospital which will be a joint venture between the Church and the Government of Lesotho.

Throughout all the proceedings of the day, Fr Tom was the Archbishop’s Chaplain.
Serving is an integral part of our mission in the church, and Fr Tom does it well.
