The Southern Region of the Anglican Christian Youth Association in the Anglican Diocese of Namibia held its Conference at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Otjiwarongo, Otjozondjupa Region on the 3rd to 6th October 2024.
In the Conference, there were couple of important events that took place including the educational discussion on the issue of Homosexuality.
It was in this Conference where close to 400 young Christians from 16 Congregations gathered for the whole weekend to feed their spirits with the word of God. In the Conference, there was a lot of God praising songs, prayers, Bible studies, Election of the Vice-Chaiperson of Southern Region and singing competition among others.
On behalf of the Diocesen Bishop Right Rev. P. Djuulume, Rev. Nekwaya addressed the Conference, where he encouraged young people to use their own hands to put food on the table rather than getting involved in illegal practices. He said young people should meet the Government halfway in development and in creating employment.
The Anglican Christian Youth Association’s President Mr. Pandeni Hambata also addressed the Youth where he encouraged young people to take part in the growth of the church, because they are the future leaders of the Church
Mr. Hambata also warned the youth of the association to be careful with some church leaders who want to see the Association dying.
Ms. Victoria Kamati one of the proud products and long serving members of the Youth Association in the Anglican Church addressed the Conference on the issue of Homosexuality. She urged young people to be very careful and avoid every person trying to impose Homosexuality on then.
Rev. Hafeleni Hamakwiyu who was the Chaplain of the Conference made an announcement about the position of the Anglican Church in Southern Africa when it comes to Homosexuality. He announcement to the Conference that Anglican Church of Southern Africa said “NO” to Homosexuality, and “NO” to same-sex marriage because it is against the will of God.
The conference was also attended by more than 10 Delegates from the Northern Region including Youth leaders of Northern Region to provide support to the leaders of Southern Region.
This conference was a success, all thanks to Almighty God.
